Landscape and Body Form

2-Day Photography Weekend

Immerse yourself in a weekend of learning, exploring and sharing creative energy in fine art photography.

This weekend concentrates on landscape and body form. Gain confidence by working with our artist’s model in stunningly beautiful and inspirational landscapes that have attracted famous artists (Boyd, Drysdale, Friend, etc) since the 1940s. Explore how to transpose your imagination into creative reality.

Fine arts photographer Sharon Hickey and owner of The Aperture Club will reveal her insider tips on how to work with figure models. Learn the specifics of how to pose and support your model, and construct powerful images through sound composition. Sharon will demonstrate ways of working with our model in a variety of locations.

We explore the use of light in landscape photography and learn important elements of composition and its relationship with form. After the shoot, participate in valuable group critique sessions to bring out the best in your images.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a professional model in an outdoor environment in an area inspired by many great artists and photographers.

Our artist’s retreat Platypus Burra is nestled on the Macquarie River surrounded by 250 acres of breathtaking flora and fauna and is located 30 mins outside of Bathurst.

Arrive and do nothing else but relax, meet wonderful people, indulge in great photography and explore this amazing landscape.

We work in a small group (max 10).

PROGRAM

Friday 10th

Arrive anytime from 3pm onwards. Relax and settle into your accommodation. When you arrive we will collect you from the property gate and bring you down to Platypus Burra - if you have a 4 wheel drive then you can follow us.

Settle in and enjoy a drink and a sumptuous dinner prepared by our hosts Robbie and Steve. After dinner we will discuss the weekend and enjoy a discussion on landscape photography. Please bring in some of your landscape works that we can review and discuss.

Saturday 11th

Rise with the sun (or maybe before!) to capture the gorgeous early morning light and shifting mists that surround Platypus Burra. After a couple hours of shooting we will return to the homestead for an exquisite breakfast.

After breakfast we settle into our discussion sessions on nude photography and its relationship to landscape.

Meet our model and enjoy lunch.

Our first photo shoot with our model will start at 2pm. Here we will learn how to work and communicate with a model. All work is practical and hands on and plenty of time is given to learn the techniques shown. This is an opportunity to practice the theory and techniques covered during the morning session. As the light changes through the afternoon into twilight we ensure we are ready for the golden and blue hours.

Relax and process out your images and we'll use the evening to rest, reflect, dine and enjoy the peaceful environment. We can review the images taken from the afternoon.

Sunday 12th

Have a well-deserved sleep in or be adventurous and rise early for another great sunrise photography shoot on the property.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at 8am - 9am

After breakfast we work again with our model from approx. 9.30am - 1.30pm

This session shoot will give everyone the opportunity to actualise their own creative setups and work on a one to one basis with the model.

Lunch will be from 1.30 - 2.30 and we will ferry people back to their cars by 3pm.

Those who have decided to extend their weekend can relax and enjoy the afternoon.
