Learn Night Photography with LIght and Motion
Sydneys VIVID festival is an exciting time to be a photographer. The light shows are exciting to watch and will present unique challenges for you and your camera skills. Learning how to photograph these challenges is extremely rewarding.
Open to photographers of all levels this workshop introduces night photography and teaches you specific skills to photograph art installations and how to compose a strong photograph. We experiment with slow shutter speeds, creative abstract photography and composition.
This will be a fun evening, learning interesting techniques and producing memorable images of the Vivid Light Festival.
Our small groups mean you will receive one on one mentoring from our professional photographers to ensure you get the most out of this unique experience.
Workshop Format:
TUTORS: 2 professional Photographers; (Subject to group size)
CLASS SIZE: Minimum 3 / Maximum 8
TIME: 6pm to 9pm (3 hours).
MEETING POINT: Outside McDonald's, the corner of Alfred Street & Loftus St, Circular Quay.
The evening starts with a tutorial on night photography. Then we will explore the light installations in and around Circular Quay.
What is covered:
- Defining light
- Composition
- Long exposure work
- Mastering night and low light photography
- Using flash to capture movement
You need to bring:
- Camera of choice with manual controls
- If you have more than one lens please bring them
- Memory card/s
- Tripod – very important
- Camera battery/s fully charged
- A compact Flash
- Release cable
- A small torch
